Eugeny Shirokov, a head of North-East territorial department of the Federal fishery agency:
"From our part we do all the best to be ready to fight against poachers. And we work – more than 400 protocols about breaking of fish guard legislation have been already executed.
Now we are receiving different proposals from those fishing companies, which have won the conditions of tenders and appointed fishing sites for 20 years. Today these companies are very interested in conserving the resource, which is to provide development of their business, and they are ready to help fish guard bodies to struggle against poachers seriously to defend spawning-grounds". |

Competitions on the allocation of salmon fishing sites in Kamchatka gather speed as it was with fishing auctions. Fishermen are ready to pay easy money to get longing sites. The pay for fishing sites participants themselves offer exceeded all reasonable limits and reached enormous proportions in ten millions of roubles. One of the fishermen was ready to pay… one billion of roubles (US$40 million).
Not for nothing fishermen compare these competitions with fishing auctions – then fee for 1 kg of crab exceeded the value of crab production and we know the result – moratorium (total prohibition) for crab catches was decreed. Probably, the same will occur with salmon.
But salmon fights only become hot.
And what results and consequences will they have for fishermen? |
